Chile creates national park to save glaciers

Chile said Saturday it's creating a vast public demesne to cover hundreds of glaciers that are melting due to climate change.

The new National Glacier Park will cover hectares of Andes mountain land about 60 kilometers (40 country miles) from the capital Santiago, President Sebastian Pinera said at a form publicizing its creation.

"We're managing to cover 368 glaciers,"the chairman said.

These millions of endless ice hold 32 times further water than a force that serves the capital megacity's seven million people, the chairman added.

A recent study by the University of Chile said glaciers in the central part of the country, which includes the new demesne, are shrinking due to global warming.

Pinera said establishing the demesne is"a abecedarian step that our country is taking to combat the destruction of nature."

Astronomers have a new proposition on how former' dynamo'Earth came inhabitable

It'll also help save foliage native to mountain terrain and creatures likes cougars and foxes.
